Saltwater Correct
The only Organic
2 Part Artificial Sea Salt
(Calcium Separate From Mix)
The following informational text below is written in laymen’s terms and is just to give you the differences between Saltwater Correct Organic 2 Part Artificial Sea Salt mix compared to the competing brands of commercial sea salt mixes and the 6 value categories that works for us to maintain our 3,000 gallons aquaculture systems and was developed back in “2000” for our own personal use with great success.
There is a lot of propaganda going on to confuse you the hobbyist, so that you are skeptical on changing product brands. The saltwater hobby is evolving and we must not get tunnel vision. We are finding out that what was good yesterday is not so good today.
Saltwater Correct Organic 2 Part Artificial Sea Salt System (calcium is separate from salt mix) has the following 6 value categories that are ideal to maintain all saltwater aquariums and is consistent in each denomination of salt packages that we make. (Approximate Values) SG: 1.026, Magnesium: 1350 ppm, Calcium: 450 ppm, Alkalinity: 10 dKH, pH: 8.4 and Borate: 4.5 mg/L and all major and minor trace elements. By keeping the 6 value categories consistent with each partial water change will help to stabilize the 6 value categories in your saltwater aquarium, resulting in adding fewer supplements to your saltwater aquarium. Think of your 10% partial weekly or bi-weekly water change as a supplement booster shot.
When testing the above 6 values on any batch of Saltwater Correct Sea salt, you will get a slightly higher reading on the Alkalinity and pH values because the calcium is not in the salt mix to pull down the Alkalinity & pH values and is normal.
Compare Saltwater Correct Organic 2 Part Artificial Sea Salt System 6 value categories to other commercial artificial sea salts. The reason why Saltwater Correct Organic 2 Part Artificial Sea Salt System is a two part artificial sea salt, is that if the calcium was blended with the rest of the dry salt mix and you mix with filtered water, the water would get cloudy (precipitation of solids) in more cases then not. The precipitation of solids (cloudiness) is now minus 1 or more ingredient (s) in your water column.
The precipitation of solids is caused from some of the levels of the 6 value categories. This is one of many reasons why commercial sea salts are LOW in one, two, three or more of the 6 value categories, besides economics.
Take a 2 Part liquid calcium and alkalinity supplement and mix equal parts of both bottles in one clear container. You will see that the mixed liquids will be cloudy (precipitation of solids). This is the same principle that happens to a dry sea salt mix that tries to match the 6 value categories. In order to eliminate the precipitation of solids when mixing artificial sea salt and to achieve the levels of the 6 value categories is too excluded 1 of the 6 value categories from the salt mix.
Saltwater Correct Organic 2 Part Artificial Sea Salt System has its calcium separated from the rest of the sea salt mix and totally eliminates precipitation of solids as per directions on label.
Why Saltwater Correct Artificial Sea Salt Mix Is Called ORGANIC:
Did you know that artificial sea salt ingredients will absorb moisture from the air if not treated with some kind of anti-caking agent?
This is why commercial sea salt manufactures have to use some type of anti-caking agent, also known as free flowing agent to keep their salt mix from clumping-up or getting moist in their machinery. The most commonly used anti-caking agent is YPS (Yellow Prussiate of Soda) which has a side ingredient of a type of Cyanide. This is the reason that Saltwater Correct Organic 2 Part Artificial Sea Salt System DOES NOT USE any type of anti-caking agent in our salt mix, we do not have too, because we hand weigh out all of our ingredients per any denomination we package. You can tell if a salt mix like Saltwater Correct Organic 2 Part Artificial Sea Salt System does not use anti-caking agents by its texture. The texture could be slightly moist depending on how you store the salt mix or the time of the year or the season, mainly the dog days of summer (very high humidity). Having any amount of moisture in the salt mix does not have a negative effect on the salt mix. The sea salt ingredients came from water and go back in to water.
Here is another interesting thing that some commercial sea salt manufactures are doing. Some are adding EDTA (EthyleneDiamineTetraacetic Acid) a chemical that makes your sea salt mix appear to dissolve quicker. High levels of EDTA can be toxic in the aquarium. Saltwater Correct Organic 2 Part Artificial Sea Salt System does not use EDTA in our mix, because we believe that all sea salts mixes should be mixed with a strong water pump i.e. for a 25 gallon sea salt mix we recommend using a 1200 GPH water pump for 24 to 48 hours or 5 gallon sea salt mix we recommend using a 350 GPH water pump for 24 to 48 hours, this is called aging your water and is recommended for all sea salt mixes.
We've been using our Saltwater Correct product line since "2000" and were originally developed for our own use in our aquaculture program.
99% of 1st time users experience better coral polyp extensions, improved coral colors, mushrooms multiply more often and their 6 value categories are more stable.
Mixing Instruction:
The following artificial sea salt mixing and aging instruction should be used for any brand of artificial sea salt mix. When using a 5 gallon bucket to mix your artificial sea salt in, remember that a 5 gallon bucket holds more then 5 gallons of water volume.
We suggest to start out by filling your 5 gallon bucket up half way, it's recommended to use a 350 gallon per hour (GPH) water pump to stir your water and artificial sea salt mix. A 350 gallon per hour (GPH) water pump will act like a heater and heat up your water with-out using a heater. Open your Saltwater Correct Organic 2 Part artificial sea salt mix and remove the calcium packet (NEVER ADD THE CALCIUM INTO THE NEW SALTWATER MIX) the water will get cloudy (precipitation of solids), this is why the calcium is separated from the mix. Calcium will be added later after your water change. Wait 20 minutes (saltwater will be clear in about 20 minutes) and then use a refractometer to read your salinity values and adjust salinity value to 1.026 SG / 35 ppt and this will make your 5 gallons of new saltwater. Mark your bucket level for your next mixing. Let the water pump run for 24 - 48 hours and then turn off the water pump, you have just aged your new artificial sea salt. Running your water pump longer has no effect on the salt mix besides running up your electric bill and wear and tear on your water pump.
If you do not agree to a salinity value of 1.026 SG / 35 ppt, just add more water and adjust to your salinity target values.
The lower the salinity value is, the more water volume you will have (more then 5 gallons of water volume), which makes Saltwater Correct 2 Part Artificial Sea Salt Mix an even greater value.
When you are ready to do your water change, lets say 5 gallons of water, all you have to do is take the entire calcium packet and pre-dissolve in some R/O (DI) filtered water (WARNING: water will get hot from the calcium dissolving) before your water change.
Remove your 5 gallons of water from your aquarium, add your 5 gallons of aged saltwater and then add your pre-dissolve calcium and you're done with your water change. Now, if your are going to do a 1 gallon water change, roughly measure out 1 1/2 teaspoons of dry calcium per each gallon of water.
When starting up an empty new aquarium for the first time with Saltwater Correct 2 Part Artificial Sea Salt, never add the entire amount of calcium in to your aquarium at one time.
The water will get cloudy (precipitation of solids) if you add the calcium too quickly!
We suggest that you pre-dissolve the entire amount of calcium that's needed and use the drip method to add the calcium to a high water flow area in your sump to eliminate the water from getting cloudy (precipitation of solids). This is the only time you have to be extra careful. If you have any questions, call us 717-243-9545
This one little bag of calcium plus the
rest of our sea salt mix makes Saltwater Correct
Organic 2 Part
Artificial Sea Salt a step ahead of the
rest, literally.

Benefit #1:
Each Saltwater Correct Organic 2 Part Artificial Sea Salt
- 25 gallon mix has the following approximate
values: SG: 1.026,
Magnesium: 1250 ppm, Calcium: 450 ppm, Alkalinity: 10 dKH, pH: 8.4
and Borate: 4.5 mg/L and all major and minor trace elements.
Major and
minor trace elements are not literally added in one by one.
The majority
of major and minor trace elements actually come from the bulk ingredients as
an impurity.
Saltwater Correct 2 Part Artificial Sea Salt is the closest
at simulating natural seawater.
All
ingredients are hand weighted out to insure consistency of our formula on
every 25 gallon sea salt mix that we make.
Saltwater Correct
Organic
2 Part Artificial Sea Salt is very
consistent from batch to batch.
Saltwater Correct
Organic
2 Part Artificial Sea Salt was developed back in August of "2000" for our personal use in our
aquaculture program.
Benefit #2:
Saltwater Correct 2 Part Artificial Sea Salt is 100% free of anti-caking
agents, especially
YPS (Yellow Prussiate of Soda)
which has a side ingredient of a type of Cyanide.
Commercial sea salt manufactures have to use some type of anti-caking agent,
also known as free flowing agent to keep their
salt mix from clumping-up or getting moist in their machinery.
The most commonly used anti-caking agent is YPS (Yellow Prussiate of Soda,
because it's cheap) which has a side ingredient of
a type of Cyanide.
For the sea salt manufactures that are using YPS (Yellow Prussiate of Soda)
is benefiting them for the ease of manufacturing stand point, but does not
benefit the hobbyist or their aquarium.
Years ago a lot of salt manufactures had written on their labels,
not to use with UV Sterilizers.
Reason being is that it's said that the UV Sterilizers will make the Cyanide
free floating or active.
Benefit #3:
Saltwater Correct Organic 2 Part Artificial Sea Salt is
100% free of
EDTA (EthyleneDiamineTetraacetic Acid).
EDTA (EthyleneDiamineTetraacetic Acid) is a chemical that some sea salt
manufactures use to makes your sea salt mix appear to dissolve quicker.
High levels of EDTA (EthyleneDiamineTetraacetic Acid) can become toxic
in the aquarium.
All artificial sea salts should be mixed with a strong water pump for 24
to 48 hours, this is called aging your water.
Example, if your making 25 gallons of saltwater, you should use a 1200
GPH (Gallon Per Hour) water pump or if you are only making 5 gallon of
saltwater you should use a 350 GPH water pump. If you age your water there is no need to use a product that contains
EDTA
(EthyleneDiamineTetraacetic Acid).
Benefit #4:
Saltwater Correct Organic 2 Part Artificial Sea Salt - 25
gallon mix has a salinity level of 1.026 / 35 ppt and weights 8.75 lbs per
bag.
Saltwater Correct Organic 2 Part Artificial Sea Salt case
has 6-25 gallon mixes totaling 150 gallons with a salinity level of 1.026 /
35 ppt and the weight
of 52.5 lbs.
With Saltwater Correct Organic 2 Part Artificial Sea Salt
you actually get what you pay for (specific gravity and total gallons).
A lot of hobbyist are learning that if you average all the
worlds reef specific gravity levels, it would average out to be
about 1.026 / 35 ppt.
Where are the corals, fish and inverts from in your tank?
From all over the world.
Having a average specific gravity of 1.026 / 35 ppt will make your saltwater
aquarium HAPPY.
The chart below is based on the commercial manufactures artificial sea salt average specific gravity, lets be nice and say
around 1.022 to get your full 200 gallons out of their dry salt mix.
How many gallons are you going to loose from your salt mix when you raise
your specific gravity to 1.026 / 35 ppt?
Compare and Save!
On the average most
competing brands of sea salt wants you to take 1.5 lbs of
their dry salt mix to make 5 gallons of sea water at a salinity level of
1.022. To raise your salinity level to 1.026 how many gallons of your dry sea salt mix will you lose from a 5 gallon mix, 10 gallon
mix, 25 gallon mix, 50 gallon mix, 150
gallon mix or a 200 gallon mix?
(Chart below is estimated and to be used as a rough guide line)

Benefit #5:
Mix Saltwater Correct Organic 2 Part Artificial Sea Salt -
25 gallon mix per label directions.
Saltwater Correct Organic 2 Part Artificial Sea Salt - 25
gallon mix will mix clear in about 20 to 30
minutes each and every time.
You will never get
cloudy water which is
known as
precipitation of solids or un-dissolved ingredient (s).
The reason why Saltwater Correct 2 Part artificial Sea Salt will not mix
cloudy is because the calcium is separate from the rest of the mix. It's all about the calcium being separate from the mix.
Calcium and a dKH Buffers mixed together are like OIL and VINEGAR, they do
not mix well together.
Take a 2 Part liquid calcium and liquid alkalinity supplement and mix equal parts of both bottles in one clear container.
You will see that the mixed liquids will get cloudy, that's precipitation of solids or un-dissolved ingredient (s).
This is the same principle that happens to a dry sea salt mix that tries to match the
calcium and dKH buffer levels
that's
in natural seawater.
This is why sea salts are low in one or more of the
following: Calcium, Alkalinity, Borate, pH or Magnesium.
Benefit #6:
After mixing your saltwater for 24 to 48 hours, turn of your water pump.
You are now done aging your new
saltwater.
Your newly aged saltwater can sit and wait for use.
Unlike other brands of artificial sea
salt, Saltwater Correct Organic 2 Part Artificial Sea Salt can sit up to 8 weeks
(that's the amount of time I tested for) and you will not have to boost
up your alkalinity or pH.
It's all about the calcium being separate from the mix.
Mix up some salt that you are using now and let sit for 2 days and you will
see that you will have to boost up your alkalinity and pH.
It's all about the calcium being separate from the mix.
Benefit #7:
Saltwater Correct Organic 2 Part Artificial Sea Salt separate little calcium packet will make the calcium level 450 ppm in the 25 gallon mix.
